WHERE WE ARE
A Group Exhibition
Curatorial Statement
Date: 5th - 19th July, 2025
At some point, the future we imagined begins to meet the life we are actually living.
The expectations that once gave us direction encounter the uncertainties of adulthood. The identities we inherited are reconsidered. Ambitions are revised, relationships change, and the meaning of progress becomes less certain. We begin to confront a question that is both ordinary and difficult: how do we understand where we are when we are still becoming who we thought we would be?
The exhibition, Where We Are, considers the experience of inhabiting the present while negotiating the expectations, circumstances, and possibilities that shape our lives. Bringing together artistic perspectives on identity, aspiration, belonging, and becoming, the exhibition reflects on the distance between the futures we dream and the realities we live.
This is not a singular account of this current generation; it is a space for different experiences of this in-between condition: its contradictions, uncertainties, quiet achievements, and unrealised possibilities.
To ask where we are is not necessarily to ask whether we have arrived. It is to consider what our present reveals about who we are, what has shaped us, and what we might yet become.
Exhibiting artists include Immanuel Offor, Queen Morenike, Ikonso Ikechukwu, and Adedolapo Ajiboye.
